Interpretation

Joong-Gun is named after the patriot An Joong-Gun who assassinated Hiro Bumi Ito, the first Japanese governor-general of Korea. Known as the man who played the leading part in the Korea-Japan merger. There are 32 movements in this pattern to represent Mr An's age when he was executed in Lui-Shung prison in 1910.

  1. Turn to face A, move left foot into right L-stance, left middle reverse knifehand block.
  2. Execute a low front snap kick to A with the left foot, while keeping arm in same position.
  3. Lower foot to A, step forward into a left rear foot stance, upward palm block with right hand.
  4. Turn 180 degrees clockwise to face B, move right foot into left L-stance, right middle reverse knifehand block.
  5. Execute a low front snap kick to B with the right foot, while keeping arm in same position.
  6. Lower foot to B, step forward into right rear foot stance, upward palm block with left hand.
  7. Move left foot towards E into right L-stance, middle knifehand guarding block.
  8. Slip front foot into left walking stance, high right upper elbow strike.
  9. Step forward into left L-stance, middle knifehand guarding block.
  10. Slip front foot into right walking stance, high left upper elbow strike.
  11. Step forward into a left walking stance, high twin fist vertical punch.
  12. Step forward into a right walking stance, middle twin fist upset punch.
  13. Move right foot on line EF and turn into a left walking stance facing towards F whilst executing an X-fist rising block.
  14. Move left leg to D forming right L-stance, high backfist side strike with left hand.
  15. Twist left arm so that palm faces upward (release move) whilst slipping front foot into left walking stance.
  16. Execute a high reverse punch (15 & 16 to be performed in a fast motion).
  17. Move left foot to right foot, turn to face C, move right foot into left L-stance, high backfist side strike with right hand.
  18. Twist arm so that palm faces upward (release move) whilst slipping front foot into right walking stance.
  19. Execute a high reverse punch (18 & 19 to be performed in a fast motion).
  20. Move right foot to left foot, turn to face F, move left foot into walking stance, high double forearm block.
  21. Pull front foot back to form right L-stance, left middle side punch.
  22. Execute a middle side kick with the right foot towards F.
  23. Lower right foot forward into walking stance, high double forearm block.
  24. Pull front foot back to form left L-stance, right side punch.
  25. Execute middle side kick with left foot towards F.
  26. Lower foot into right L-stance, middle forearm guarding block.
  27. Slip front foot forward, left low stance, palm pressing block (slow motion).
  28. Step forward into left L-stance, middle forearm guarding block.
  29. Slip front foot forward, right low stance, palm pressing block (slow motion).
  30. Bring left foot to right foot making closed stance, turning anti-clockwise to face B, right angle punch (slow motion) (posture move).
  31. Move right foot to B into a fixed stance, U shaped block.
  32. Bring right foot to left foot, move left foot into a fixed stance towards A, turning anti-clockwise, U shaped block.
