Interpretation
Toi-Gye is the pen name of the noted scholar Yi Hwang (16th century AD), and authority on Neo-Confucianism. The 37 movements of this pattern refer to his birthplace on the 37th degree latitude and the diagram represents "scholar".

- Turn to face A, move left foot into right L-stance, left middle inner forearm block.
- Slip front foot forward, left walking stance, low upset fingertip thrust.
- Bring left foot to right foot, make closed stance facing E, left low outer forearm block, right high backfist strike (perform in slow motion).
- Turn to face B, move right foot into left L-stance, right middle inner forearm block.
- Slip front foot forward, right walking stance, low upset fingertip thrust.
- Bring right foot to left foot, make closed stance facing E, right low outer forearm block, left high backfist strike (perform in slow motion).
- Step forward towards E, left walking stance, low X fist pressing block.
- On the spot, high twin fist vertical punch (7 & 8 to be performed in a continuous motion).
- Step forward, execute middle front snap kick with right leg.
